Are you  Black Indian?

bulletAre you a Black-Indian both strong in grace
bulletThe duality of culture true to embrace
bulletAre you a Black-Indian both strong in culture firm?
bulletFrom our heritage and ancestors must learn.
bulletAre you a Black-Indian with yearning in heart
bulletThe end was the beginning and now is the start
bulletAre you a Black-Indian both red and black
bulletOur ancestors were, strong bodies with minds intact
bulletAre you a Black-Indian misunderstood by others
bulletit is ok for you have red and black sisters and brothers
bulletAre you a Black-Indian standing without fear
bulletHistorical facts but not without tears
bulletAre you a Black-Indian with strength and grace
bulletCreator first then balance then the human race
bulletAre you a Black-Indian with humility that guides
bulletLets humbly share our heritage with pride.

One of the best poets I have ever heard is a man by the name of John Trudell. I met him some years ago in NYC with a Lakota friend Two Bears. Trudell is truly one of the best Native American Poets of all times.
